Upgrading to the modular and versatile Z34 style fuel pump assembly is made simple with the products available on this page. Make sure to read the Technical Notes and Options here and our PDF file. There are important time and money savings details that you will need to know before you start.
The Z34 fuel pump assembly has shown to be capable of as high as 700whp (Dynojet STD) with pump E85 in efficient high compression turbo builds when equipped with a large single pump at stock voltage. On the less fuel efficient spectrum, a supercharged lower compression engine could still hope to see over 500whp on pump E85 with relatively conservative tuning. While these figures are respectable, the more typical reason a 350z or G35C builder will perform the conversion is to improve reliability and modularity. The old Z33 style fuel pump assembly is best known for blowing out fuel pump grommets; often completely debilitating the car. It also features internalized plumbing, and it is difficult or impossible to make something satisfactory out of. The Z34 Retrofit offers the potential to build a desirable OEM+ fuel pump assembly.
The 500.3570 Venturi Hose Adapter is all the actual hardware that you need to perform the base conversion itself. But most users here are going to need the components to also convert it to return fuel. We have return conversion kits for use with either the default plastic top hat or for our Billet Top Hat.
Scenario A: Stock (Returnless) Fuel System: All you need for a 2010+ G37 pump assembly to simply drop-in and plug-in, is our 500.3570 Venturi Hose Adapter (the default item on this catalog page). Otherwise, this pump assembly has the same electric connector and regulator pressure as a 350z/G35C. You can optionally add our 100.0100 Billet Top Hat Kit for a connector upgrade and enhanced reliability (the stock plastic hat is notorious for eventually breaking off). If you want to upgrade the fuel pump, we offer the 500.2026 fuel pump installation kit, which can allow you to use smaller pump upgrades such as a 340lph pump (with 5/16" hose barb) while reusing the stock integrated filter and regulator. NOTE: We do not support using a Walbro 450 or similar pump in this configuration.
Scenario B: Return Fuel System, Stock Plastic Hat: Choose the stock hat installation hardware kit in 5/16" or 3/8" to match your fuel pump hose barb size. Choosing the correct size will ensure the fuel pump hose and bulkhead you receive is compatible with your pump. The included 6AN bulkhead is intended for the fuel pump output, and the original plastic QD bulkhead is repurposed for return fuel. If you are installing with our latest version CJM S2 fuel system or S1 to S2 upgrade kit, you will not need any additional adapters mentioned from here out. For other/custom fuel systems, you may find these other CJM catalog items useful; Use our adapter SKU 320.0087 to adapt the engine bay end of the fuel pipe to 6AN. To connect the original fuel pipe to the provided 6AN bulkhead, use our adapter SKU 000.4030. Use our adapter SKU 320.0086 to connect a 6AN return hose to the stock plastic QD bulkhead.
Scenario C: Return Fuel System, CJM Billet Hat: Choose the billet hat installation hardware kit in 5/16" or 3/8" to match your fuel pump hose barb size. Choosing the correct size will ensure the fuel pump hose and bulkhead you receive is compatible with your pump. This hardware kit combined with the billet hat kit will provide a 6AN bulkhead for both feed and return, plus a QD adapter (from the billet hat kit) that can be used to connect the stock fuel pipe to either. If you are installing with our latest version CJM S2 fuel system or S1 to S2 upgrade kit, you will not need any additional adapters mentioned from here out. For other/custom fuel systems, you may find these other CJM catalog items useful; You can use our adapter SKU 320.0087 to adapt the engine bay end of the fuel pipe to 6AN when reusing the original pipe for feed or return.
Billet Top Hat Kit: The CJM Billet Top Hat addresses the weaknesses of the original plastic hat; its overall durability and its connector. The stock hat is notorious for breaking off, so our billet hat is popular for both repair and preventative maintenance. Our connector kit is also rated to 40A per terminal, where the stock connector can be prone to melting with large fuel pumps. The Billet Hat can easily be added later if it doesn't fit the budget at first.
Installation Hardware Kit: If the fuel system receiving the conversion is basically stock, no optional hardware kit is required to install the (17040-1NC0C) G37 assembly, just the 500.3570 Venturi Hose Adapter. If you need an upgraded pump with the returnless system, add our 500.2026 Fuel Pump Install Kit to fit a 340 or similar pump (must have 5/16" hose barb and be no larger than about 40mm diameter. If you also need the hardware for a return conversion, select the the return hardware kit for your top hat and fuel pump barb size.
